Extremophiles offer great potential for industrial applications and have attracted much research attention in recent years. The International Symposium on Extremophiles and Their Applications will be held from 29 November to 2 December 2005, supported by Japan Agency for Marine-Earth Science and Technology (JAMSTEC), Japan Society for the Promotion of Science (JSPS) and Toyo University.

In the Symposium, research experts and leading scientists in the field of extremophiles will deliver stimulating presentations, and participants will be able to share the latest academic and technical information. This Symposium will also examine microorganisms and their enzymes in extreme environments, such as deep under the sea and ground.

This Symposium will provide invaluable ideas for industrial applications as well as academic development. In addition, it will surely stimulate researchers and young scientists alike.
